Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy ("Policy") describes how Clem Ziroli (referred to throughout as "I", "me", "my", or "the Operator") collects, receives, stores, processes, uses, retains, shares, transfers, monetises, sells, licenses, and otherwise handles information in connection with the website located at cmz.dev and any associated subdomains, pages, endpoints, feeds, APIs, downloadables, communications channels, or services operated by me (collectively, the "Site").
By accessing, browsing, viewing, scraping, subscribing to, communicating with, or otherwise interacting with the Site or with me through it, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and accepted this Policy in full. If you do not accept this Policy, you must stop using the Site immediately.
Plain-language summary (non-binding). I run a small personal website. I keep what I collect to a minimum, but anything you voluntarily send me — emails, messages, attachments, ideas, code, feedback — becomes my property to use, share, license, or sell as I see fit. The full legal terms below control if there is any conflict with this summary.
1. Who I am
The Site is operated by Clem Ziroli, an individual. I am the sole data controller and decision-maker for all information described in this Policy. For any privacy-related question you can reach me at hello@cmz.dev.
2. Information I collect
2.1 Information you give me directly
- Contact & communication data — name, email address, organisation, telephone number, message contents, attachments, and any other information you choose to send when you email me, fill in a form, message me on a linked platform, or otherwise initiate contact.
- Submitted content — code snippets, designs, briefs, feedback, suggestions, bug reports, ideas, proposals, or any other material you transmit to me through or in connection with the Site.
- Account-style data — if you subscribe to a newsletter, sign up for early access, or otherwise create a record, the details you provide.
2.2 Information collected automatically
- Technical access data — IP address (or truncated form thereof), user-agent string, referrer URL, request path, response status, approximate geolocation derived from IP, timestamp, language preference, screen size, and other request metadata generated by your browser or device.
- Performance & reliability data — JavaScript errors, console exceptions, render performance metrics, crash reports, and other diagnostic signals that may be emitted as you use the Site.
- Aggregated traffic data — page views, sessions, approximate retention, navigation paths, and similar aggregated statistics, whether produced by me or by infrastructure providers.
2.3 Information from third parties
I may receive information about you from third parties, including hosting, DNS, CDN, analytics, email, identity, anti-abuse, and security providers, as well as from publicly available sources such as social profiles you have linked or that you reference in communications with me.
3. Cookies and similar technologies
The Site itself is a static website. I do not, at the time of writing, set any first-party tracking cookies. However:
- Infrastructure providers (DNS, CDN, hosting, anti-abuse) may set or read small identifiers necessary to operate the Site, deliver content efficiently, and protect against fraud or abuse.
- If I later add analytics, embedded media, or interactive features, those services may set additional cookies or use comparable storage mechanisms (local storage, session storage, fingerprinting signals, pixels, beacons). I reserve the right to add such features at any time without further individual notice beyond updating this Policy.
- Where required by law, I will request consent before deploying non-essential cookies or similar technologies; where not required, your continued use of the Site constitutes consent to the extent permitted by applicable law.
4. How I use information
I may use information for any lawful purpose, including but not limited to:
- operating, maintaining, securing, and improving the Site;
- responding to enquiries and providing services you have requested;
- negotiating, entering into, and performing contracts with you;
- building, training, evaluating, and improving software, models, datasets, products, and services (including artificial-intelligence and machine-learning systems) owned, controlled, or licensed by me;
- creating derivative works, analytics, benchmarks, and aggregated datasets based on collected information;
- marketing my services, projects, and writing;
- detecting, investigating, and preventing fraud, abuse, security incidents, or violations of law or of any applicable terms;
- complying with legal obligations, court orders, subpoenas, or governmental requests;
- asserting, exercising, or defending legal claims;
- any other purpose disclosed to you at the point of collection or to which you otherwise consent.
5. Ownership of submitted information & content
This section is important. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, any information, data, content, ideas, feedback, suggestions, code, designs, materials, or other submissions that you voluntarily transmit, upload, send, post, message, email, or otherwise make available to me, the Site, or any of my channels (collectively, "Submissions"):
- shall be deemed owned by me, Clem Ziroli, in their entirety, including all worldwide intellectual-property rights, moral rights (waived to the fullest extent permissible), database rights, and any other proprietary rights therein;
- may be used, reproduced, modified, adapted, translated, combined, distributed, displayed, performed, published, sold, licensed, sub-licensed, monetised, transferred, assigned, or otherwise exploited by me, for any purpose whatsoever, commercial or otherwise, in any medium now known or later developed, in perpetuity, without any further obligation, compensation, attribution, accounting, or notice to you;
- may be sold or transferred by me, in whole or in part, to any third party of my choosing, including without limitation as part of a portfolio sale, asset sale, business sale, dataset sale, licensing transaction, merger, acquisition, restructuring, or any other commercial transaction;
- may be used to train, fine-tune, evaluate, or otherwise develop artificial-intelligence and machine-learning models, datasets, and tooling, whether created by me or by parties I license to;
- are submitted "as is", without confidentiality unless a separate signed written agreement between us expressly establishes confidentiality;
- are submitted by you with the warranty that you have all rights necessary to grant the foregoing, that the Submissions do not infringe any third-party right, and that you indemnify me against any claim arising from the contrary.
To the extent that ownership of any Submission cannot, by operation of law, vest in me automatically, you hereby grant me an irrevocable, perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free, fully paid-up, exclusive, sublicensable and transferable licence to do all of the foregoing, with the broadest scope permitted by law.
Do not send me anything you are not prepared to surrender all rights to. If you wish to share confidential or proprietary material, contact me first to put a separate written agreement in place.
6. Sale of information
I expressly reserve the right to sell, license, rent, transfer, or otherwise commercialise any information described in this Policy, including Submissions, to any third party, at any time, for any consideration or none, to the maximum extent permitted by law. Where applicable law grants you a right to opt out of, or object to, the sale or sharing of your personal information, you may exercise that right using the contact details in Section 13 ("Your rights"). I will honour such requests only to the extent legally required and only with respect to data falling within the statutory definition that triggered the right.
7. Sharing & disclosure
I may share information:
- with service providers who help operate the Site (hosting, DNS, CDN, email, analytics, anti-abuse, security, payment processing, productivity tooling), under their respective terms;
- with purchasers, transferees, or successors in connection with any actual or contemplated sale, merger, acquisition, financing, reorganisation, insolvency, or other corporate transaction involving me or my assets;
- with professional advisors (lawyers, accountants, insurers, consultants) under appropriate confidentiality obligations;
- with law enforcement, regulators, or other authorities where I believe in good faith that disclosure is required or appropriate;
- with any party to whom I sell or transfer information as permitted in Section 6;
- with your consent or at your direction.
8. International transfers
The Site is operated from, and may rely on infrastructure located in, jurisdictions outside your country of residence, including jurisdictions that may not offer the same level of data-protection law as your home jurisdiction. By interacting with the Site you consent to such transfers to the extent permitted by applicable law. Where required, I rely on appropriate transfer mechanisms (such as standard contractual clauses) or on derogations available under applicable law.
9. Retention
I retain information for as long as I deem necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this Policy, to comply with my legal obligations, to resolve disputes, and to enforce my agreements. Submissions and any information derived from them may be retained indefinitely. Where applicable law sets a maximum retention period, I will comply with that period with respect to the data it covers.
10. Security
I take reasonable technical and organisational measures appropriate to a personal website. No system is perfectly secure. You transmit information to me at your own risk. Without limiting any other provision of this Policy, I disclaim all warranties relating to security to the maximum extent permitted by law.
11. Children
The Site is not directed to children under the age of 16. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information to me, please contact me and I will take appropriate steps.
12. Automated decision-making & AI
I may use automated systems, including artificial-intelligence and machine-learning systems, to process information described in this Policy, including for the purposes of triage, prioritisation, abuse detection, drafting responses, generating analytics, and improving products or services. Submissions and other information may be used as training, fine-tuning, evaluation, or grounding data for such systems. Where applicable law grants you specific rights with respect to solely automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects concerning you, you may exercise those rights as described in Section 13.
13. Your rights
Depending on where you are located, you may have rights under applicable data-protection law, which may include the right to:
- access the personal information I hold about you;
- request correction of inaccurate personal information;
- request deletion of your personal information;
- object to or restrict certain processing;
- opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information;
- data portability;
- withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
- lodge a complaint with a competent supervisory authority.
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@cmz.dev with sufficient information for me to verify your identity and your request. I will respond within the period required by applicable law. Statutory rights override conflicting provisions of this Policy to the extent — and only to the extent — that the law so requires. Outside that scope, the provisions of this Policy (including, in particular, Section 5 on ownership of Submissions) continue to apply in full.
14. Third-party links
The Site may link to third-party websites, services, or platforms. I am not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. Their use of your information is governed by their own policies.
15. Changes to this Policy
I may update this Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will take effect upon posting. Your continued use of the Site after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
16. Governing law
This Policy and any dispute arising out of or in connection with it shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of the jurisdiction in which I reside, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles, and subject to any mandatory consumer- or data-protection law of your jurisdiction that cannot be excluded by contract.
